Discipline and Your Money

Paycheck to paycheck. I wish it wasn’t the case. Don’t we all?

I get paid every other Friday and I receive my SS check around the 10th of every month. I check my budget/cash flow and my bank account probably twice a week. This week, my Amazon Prime membership – $99 – hit my bank account. Of course, I had notification earlier, but I forgot about it. The day before payday, I had $2.14 in my checking account.

Also, the day before payday, I went to the mall to walk. I dropped into Herberger’s, a store that is having a going-out-of-business sale. I’ve always wanted a high quality (fabulous fabric), white, button-down collar, classic shirt. There was a Ralph Lauren/Chaps that I could have gotten for $32. So, Friday after work, with some cash in my account, I went back and tried it on.

What’s also in the back of my mind is the fact that I want a new phone. My intent is to buy a refurbished one on eBay.

I chose not to buy the shirt. I have a lot of white fabric at home. I also checked my budget and it didn’t look as good as I thought it would. The bottom line – DISCIPLINE is needed and I’m not 100% sure I can do it! In fact, looking at the next 6 months, I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get that new phone.

It is what it is.
